Family Holidays On The Island of Kos
One of the Dodecanese islands belonging to Greece, Kos is a jewel in the Aegean Sea near the Turkish coast, and an ideal spot for family holidays. There are many cheap holidays to choose from on this ancient land that can trace its history back a thousand years B.C. Holidays in Kos are pretty much guaranteed great weather as the island enjoys a mild Mediterranean climate with plenty of sunny days throughout the year. On Kos holidays you will enjoy a lovely gentle landscape of coastal plains surrounding a mountainously rugged interior dotted with timeless unspoilt villages. The lower lying areas can be easily explored by bicycle; great fun for family holidays. It’s very reasonably priced, too; in fact you will find some of the lowest prices in Europe. Should you want your holidays in Kos to involve a little fun on the Aegean, Kos is one of the best yacht charter destinations in Greece. Here are a few recommendations for your Kos holidays.

Places To See On Kos Holidays
When we think of holidays in Kos we think of Kardamena. This charming town has grown from a small fishing village into one of the most thriving, vibrant resorts on the island. With clear warm waters and wide sandy beaches, Kardamena is a holiday haven. There’s plenty of bars and nightclubs, in fact it’s quite famous for them, but at its heart the resort is still full of unspoilt, pretty charm. Don’t miss a visit to the archaeological site of the Asklepion. This spa town of classical Greece was where Hippocrates, the father of medicine, lived and worked.

The ancient Kos Town, founded in 366 B.C., was historically the crossroads of the ancient Greek and Roman civilisations. Here you can see the medieval Castle of Neratzia at the harbour entrance and enjoy its fascinating evocation of the Kos Town of the Middle Ages. There’s also the Platanos, a huge old tree which may be the oldest in Europe and under which legend has it Hippocrates taught. Also well worth a visit is the town’s archaeological museum which houses wonderful sculptures of Aphrodite and Eros and intricate mosaics. You can find off the beaten track taverns to enjoy the lowest prices on food and drink.

Cheap Holidays On The Beach
If you enjoy cheap holidays relaxing on the beach, enjoying swimming, snorkelling and windsurfing or just soaking up the sun then some of the lowest prices can be found on the beaches of Kos. Lambi is a kilometre of sun-drenched beach stretching out along the coast from Kos Harbour. The beautiful, pebbled Psalidi beach lies a short distance from Kos Town and is well served by nearby taverns and water sports centres. Tingaki beach, on the north side of Kos is 10 kilometres of shimmering white sand gradually shelving gently into warm shallow waters. Psalidi, Lambi and Tingaki are fun beaches with plenty to keep you occupied.
