Stalis Holidays

Holidays In Stalis
Stalis, located on the north east coast of Crete between Malia and Hersonissos, is a beautifully situated, ideal family holidays destination. The resort grew to connect its better known neighbours, and mostly consists of hotels, tavernas and shops, and so is perfectly geared towards the holidaymaker. It is this central location which makes the resort perfect for summer holidays as it is conveniently located for reaching the many places of interest in this part of Crete. What is more, due to the financial crunch suffered by Greece, prices are still reasonable and this makes Crete a great destination for cheap holidays.

Beach Holidays In Stalis
The other big advantage Stalis has is the outstanding quality of its beaches. Lovely fine sand shelves gently into the warm sea, and the beaches are well organised, with lifeguards, sun loungers and beach umbrellas, all making this delightful shore family friendly. If you decide simply to take it easy on the beaches, which run from Malia to the western end of the bay, you can be assured of good, cheap holidays, with all you require being close at hand. Some beachside restaurants offer good deals on combined lounger hire, meals and drinks. Crete enjoys a Mediterranean climate, with hot, dry summers, making it just right for relaxing beach holidays.

Attractions On Stalis Holidays
Up on the mountain behind Stalis is the village of Mohos. A winding mountain road will take you up there and the views of the bay and the Sea of Crete are stunning. Each week an evening of traditional Cretan entertainment is held in the village square with live music and dancing, and visitors are warmly welcomed. Stalis holidays would not be complete without a visit inland to the Lassithi Plateau, with its picturesque old windmills and Dikteon Andron, the cave where mythology has it Zeus was born. Essential day trips from your Stalis accommodation would be to Knossos, to see the archaeological remains of the palace of King Minos, and to Heraklion City, to visit the Archaeological Museum. This is one of the most important in Europe, with a superb, extensive collection of artifacts including Minoan frescoes. Don’t forget to try the local dishes. Fresh fish is, of course, a speciality, but there’s also lots of fresh vegetables, with olive oil and herbs. Don’t miss sampling thyme honey, and the local drink, raki, which is distilled from pressed grapes and packs quite a kick.

Water Parks For Family Holidays Fun
Summer holidays in sunny destinations are not the same without taking the family to a water park, and the Stalis area boasts two, in adjoining Hersonissos. Set on a hillside, the Acqua Plus has an Aqua Slalom, Super Hydro Tube, Black Hole and much more. There’s also a games area and plenty of outlets where you can buy food and drink. On the beach the Star Beach Water Park offers watersports including parasailing, banana boats, jet skiing, water skiing, tubes and flying fish.
