Rhodes Holidays

What To Expect On Rhodes Holidays
Holidays in Rhodes are defined by the sheer variety of experiences the island has to offer. Beautiful beaches, vibrant nightlife, charming medieval towns and sites of significant archaeological interest are all features of Rhodes holidays. Lapped by the clear blue waters of the Aegean Sea, this largest of the Greek Dodecanese Islands has an area of 1,400 square kilometres, with 220 kilometres of coastline just waiting to accommodate you on your family holidays. The ruggedly mountainous interior is sparsely populated, with extensive pine forests. The climate is perfect for family holidays; long summers influenced by the southerly position, with temperatures rising to around 30 degrees at the hottest times. The costs are still very reasonable so cheap holidays with the lowest prices are a big part of the appeal. You’ll find plenty to keep you occupied on your holidays in Rhodes, such as these recommendations.

Rhodes Holidays Destinations
The principal town of Rhodes is located at the northern tip of the island. Here you’ll find lots of entertainment for your family holidays and a thriving, bustling nightlife. The Old Town, declared a World Heritage Site, is surrounded by medieval walls. Rhodes boasts a municipal gallery, an aquarium, and the fascinating medieval Palace of the Grand Masters, built by the Knights of St. John. The Archaeological Museum is also well worth a visit.

The island’s premiere seaside resort, Faliraki is set on a bay with a five kilometre stretch of sand. Usually when people think of holidays in Rhodes they think of Faliraki, where there’s an extremely lively nightlife scene and plenty to do for families with younger children. Among other attractions there’s a fun-park, a history park and the largest water park in Europe. You’ll need to shop around for the lowest prices.

A very cosmopolitan town, Ixia has a lovely beach fringed by clear blue waters and is surrounded by rolling green hills. There’s over twenty five restaurants and several bars. Ixia is also a great spot for windsurfers, with two water sports centres where you can hire boards and jet skis.

If you prefer something a little quieter, where you can find the lowest prices, the ancient town of Lindos allows no cars or hotels within its limits. It’s a picturesque maze of narrow winding streets overlooked by a huge rock outcrop topped by the Lindos acropolis.

Other Attractions On Rhodes Cheap Holidays
Rhodes is of course famous for its beautifully preserved historical sites. There’s the Acropolis of Rhodes, one of the greatest examples of ancient Greek architecture, where you can find the Temple of Apollo. The partially excavated remains of the 7th century B.C. city of Kamiros is a fascinating glimpse into the past. Don’t miss the spectacular views over the sea and islands off the western coast from the ruins of the Castle of Monolithos. With such a variety of things to do for all tastes, it’s no surprise how popular cheap holidays on this wonderful island are.
